All-on-Four Treatment Implant-Supported Prostheses

All-on-Four is an implant technique in which the teeth in the upper or lower jaw are replaced with implant-supported prostheses using only 4–6 implants. With this technique, a fixed full-arch restoration can be carried out with 4–6 implants placed into the jaw. It provides full patient satisfaction in terms of function, aesthetics and speech. Implants that are strong enough to support several teeth at the same time are sufficient to restore 10 or 12 missing teeth in one jaw at once.

In the front region, two implants are placed at 90 degrees in the area where the bone is thickest, while in the posterior part of the jawbone they are placed at a 45-degree angle in the region where bone density is higher. The next step after placing the four implants is to place a special prosthesis onto the implants.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

All-on-Four treatment is suitable for individuals who have missing teeth and do not have any condition that would prevent implant surgery. Such conditions may include systemic diseases as well as insufficient bone tissue in the area where the procedure is to be performed.

Before the procedure, a detailed clinical and radiological examination should be performed. In light of the information obtained from this examination, a treatment plan is prepared for the patient and an appointment is scheduled for implant placement. On the first day of treatment, four implants can be placed in a single session or, if preferred, over several sessions. After the procedure, temporary prostheses can be fixed back into the patient’s mouth. An appointment for permanent prostheses is usually scheduled for about three months later.
